My backyard: a glowing fortress
Where my thoughts bespeak the breeze
Mingling with translucent excess
Of sun-warm dalliance. The soft trees
And me, together we contemplate all;
My thought is like their being, waking deep
Inside the wide world. All things, large or small,
Encompass an unfathomable sleep.
The planes that cross the sky in droves
Cannot like birds join my dream,
Cannot unveil the glowing coves
Where contemplation’s pools gleam.
Breaking waves of cars as shadows grow long -
It is currently high tide - coincides
With the waning of this afternoon song
And then night’s kingdom glowing on all sides.
